Daniel Guerrero is a bilingual baseball writer covering the St. Louis Cardinals minor-league system for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and STL Pinch Hits.
Before moving to St. Louis, Daniel worked as a seasonal reporter for MLB.com, where he covered 23 major-league teams as a backup reporter working remotely and on-site in Anaheim, Los Angeles, and San Diego.
Prior to graduating from San Diego State University in December 2020, Daniel spent three years as a student reporter and won five awards for his work. He worked as the Mundo Azteca editor and as a staff writer for The Daily Aztec, SDSU’s independent student newspaper, over his two-and-a-half years at SDSU. He covered sports and campus news in both English and Spanish for The Daily Aztec. While he was an Aztec, Daniel completed a sports internship with NBC San Diego during the fall of 2019 semester and was a San Diego Convention Center communications intern during the summer of 2019.
Daniel is an active member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and served as the SDSU student chapter’s public relations officer during the spring of 2020 and chapter president in the fall of 2020 prior to graduating.
Originally from Anaheim, Calif., Daniel transferred to SDSU in the fall of 2018 after earning his associate’s degree in journalism at Fullerton College. During his time at Fullerton College, Daniel wrote for The Hornet and served as the student publication’s sports editor.
His awards include a second-place college sports story award from the San Diego Press Club for best college sports story, a fifth-place news award from the California Newspaper Publishers Association for best college news story, and three Journalism Association of Community Colleges awards. In July 2020, Daniel was named a 2020 scholarship recipient from the NAHJ San Diego-Tijuana chapter.
